FRISCO, Texas (February 23, 2024) – North Texas SC has announced the signing of FC Dallas Academy midfielder Anthony Ramirez to a one-year MLS NEXT Pro professional contract.
Ramirez, 18, signs with North Texas SC after registering 14 appearances, 633 minutes, two goals, and two assists during the 2023 season as an Academy player. He made his professional debut in the 2023 season opener against LAFC2 on March 25. Ramirez was named the MLS NEXT Rising Player of Matchday 11 after scoring a brace against LA Galaxy II on June 4.
“I had the pleasure of coaching Anthony when he first started his journey in our Academy. We knew very early on that we had a fantastic talent” said North Texas SC Head Coach John Gall. “He has worked tirelessly over the years and has continued developing. He’s an exciting attacking player that plays tremendously well between lines and tight spaces. He’s a dynamic, dangerous and the type of player that excites fans. We are delighted that we get to continue the pathway with him.”
A Dallas native, Ramirez joined the FC Dallas Academy system at 12.He participated with Dallas in the Gordon Super Jago Group of the 2023 Dallas Cup.
Ramirez has represented both the US and Mexico at the youth levels. Ramirez most recently featured in the Mexican U-20 camp for Torneo del Sol that was held this past January. Ramirez has 14 international caps and scored once for Mexico.
North Texas SC will open its 2024 MLS NEXT Pro campaign at Choctaw Stadium against Whitecaps FC 2 on Friday, March 15 at 7:30PM CT. Tickets for the home opener can be purchased here.
