The Strikers advanced, 7-6, in penalty kicks following a 1-1 draw in regulation and overtime against USL Premier Development League side Laredo Heat yesterday.

Having competed in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup since 1996, FC Dallas has forged a record of 25-14-0 all-time in the competition. FC Dallas won the tournament in 1997, two years before the competition was rebranded in honor of FC Dallas’ eventual owner, Lamar Hunt.
