OCEANSIDE, Calif. — The FC Dallas Girls U-15 and U-17 teams both got off to great starts at the USSDA Playoffs in California.
The U-15 team defeated LA Galaxy San Diego 1-0 in the team’s opening match. Morganne Eikelbarner scored the lone goal for Dallas. She scored 26 goals in the regular season, the fifth most out of all players in the age group. They will play Reign Academy on Monday, then finish the group stage against the Concorde Fire on Wednesday. FCD beat Reign 2-0 in December.
The U-17 team beat Beach FC 4-2 in their first game. The team trailed 1-0 at halftime, but once FCD found the back of the net for the first time, the goals kept rolling. Reyna Reyes scored in the 51st minute, followed by Sydney Richards eight minutes later. Richards scored her second goal of the game in the 70th minute, then Diana Ordoñez scored the team’s fourth goal in the 73rd minute to blow the game open.
Ordoñez led the league in goals per game in the regular season, scoring 26 goals in just 14 games.
They will face Washington Spirit Academy – Virginia on Tuesday and complete the group stage with a match against the Concorde Fire on Thursday. Concorde beat Washingon 1-0 in their first game.
