FRISCO, Texas – FC Dallas Academy players Tanner Tessmann, Nicolas Carrera, Jonathan Gomez, and Samar Guidry were recognized as 2019 All-American players by United Soccer Coaches.
The honorees will be given awards and recognized on January 18, 2020 in Baltimore in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention. The honorees were chosen from the 2019 Youth Boys All-Region teams, where the FC Dallas Academy had a heavy presence as well.

Tessmann, 18, has had a big season in terms of personal player development. He made his professional debut with North Texas Soccer Club in the 2019 season where he played 16 games, had 9 starts, and recorded 1 goal. He has been a key player in the Academy playing 7 games so far in the 2019-2020 season, as well as recording 8 goals in the 2018-2019 season over 26 games. He has received multiple call-ups to the U.S. Youth National team throughout the year. Tessmann won the Golden Ball award from the U.S. Soccer Development Academy for the best player in postseason tournaments.
Carrera, 17, made his professional debut in 2019 when he played 23 minutes with North Texas Soccer Club against Toronto FC II on June 12, 2019. He was also called up to the U.S. Youth National team 3 teams, with one of those being to compete in the U-17 World Cup. Carrera played 22 games with the Academy and scored 3 goals in the 2018-2019 season; as well as playing in five games in the 2019-2020 season so far.
Gomez, 16, played 9 games, 2 assists with the North Texas Soccer Club throughout the 2019 season. Gomez played 25 games in the 2018-2019 season with the Academy, and has played in 5 so far in the 2019-2020 season. He was called up to the U.S. Youth National team twice this year as well as getting named to the Academy Best XI for the Central Conference.
In addition, U-19 Girls Academy defender Samar Guidry was also recognized as an All-American, an honor she has received before.
Guidry, has been with the Academy since the 2017-2018 season. She been called up to the Youth National team multiple times, most recently receiving a call up to the U-20s training camp. She recently committed to the University of Virginia and to play collegiate soccer. Guidry has scored 4 goals so far in the 2019-2020 season. This is the second time receiving an All-American Award and the third for the Girls Academy.
