ACADEMY UPDATE: Three Wins at USSDA Winter Showcase

The FC Dallas Academy played some of the best teams from around the country last weekend in Florida at the US Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase, coming away with a 3-2-1 record between the U-16s and U-18s. 


U-18 Results


Thursday, December 3rd - FC Dallas 3 Georgia United 2

The U-18s opened the Showcase with a 3-2 win over Georgia United behind goals from Weston McKinnie, Devin Vega and Toshiki Yasuda.


Friday, December 4th - FC Dallas 1 DC United 0

Irvin Dominguez scored the game-winner for FCD as they took their second-straight win at the Showcase on Friday against a DC United side that was unbeaten in their last six games.


Sunday, December 6th - FC Dallas 1 Philadelphia Union 1 

The U-18s were unable to finish the week a perfect 3-0-0 but earned a point from the final match against the Philadelphia Union with Devin Vega scoring his second goal of the season. 


With these results, FCD is tied for second on points in the division with Houston, two points behind Texas Rush with two games in hand. FCD finishes their 2015 schedule at Texas SC Houston this weekend with the potential to take over first place. 


U-16 Results


Friday, December 4th - FC Dallas 1 Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2

Paxton Pomykal scored from a penalty kick, but the U-16s lost their first game of the season on a last-minute goal to Vancouver in their first match of the Showcase.


Saturday, December 5th - FC Dallas 2 Real Salt Lake 3

Jesus Ferreira scored twice for the U-16s but they let a 2-0 lead slip away dropping their second match of the showcase. 


Monday, December 7th - FC Dallas 3 Weston FC 0

The U-16s earned a win from the final day of the Showcase with a hat trick from midfielder Paxton Pomykal.


The U-16s remain at the top of their division with a 9-2-0 record a point ahead of Real Colorado. They'll also finish their 2015 schedule against Texans SC Houston this weekend.
