Alejandro Zendejas called in by U.S. U-17 National Team for international tournament in Pardubice, Czech Republic

FRISCO, Texas (Monday, Aug. 17) – FC Dallas’ 13th Homegrown player, Alejandro Zendejas, was named to the U.S. Under-17 National Team for the 22nd International Youth Tournament of Vaclav Jezek taking place in Pardubice, Czech Republic, from Aug. 13 to Aug. 23, 2015.


The U-17’s begin play on Tuesday, Aug. 18, when they face Russia. The team will play again the following day on Aug. 19 against Slovenia and will conclude group play on Aug. 21 against Slovakia. The opponent for a final placement game, which will be played on Saturday, Aug. 22, will be determined following the conclusion of group play.

Zendejas, 17, made his MLS debut in FC Dallas’ 4-1 win against the Houston Dynamo on May 1. The El Paso native started the first match of his career and became the youngest player in FCD history to do so, on June 13 in Seattle. Zendejas tied, to the exact day, with Eddie Johnson, who made his first start on Aug. 4, 2001, at 17 years and 126 days old.

Since his debut, Zendejas has made six additional regular season appearances for a total of 142 minutes. He also logged 112 minutes of action in two U.S. Open Cup matches this season.
