FRISCO, Texas (Wednesday, March 18, 2015) – Alejandro Zendejas, who signed as FC Dallas’ league-leading 13th Homegrown player on Oct. 1, 2014, re-joined the team yesterday after helping the U.S. Under-17 National Team qualify for the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.

Zendejas, who turned 17 on Feb. 7, captained the U.S. Under-17 National Team to a 5-4 win in a penalty kick shootout against Jamaica this past Sunday, March 15, at Estadio Francisco Morazan in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. The victory in the 2015 CONCACAF U-17 Championship playoff match secured the U.S.’s first appearance in the FIFA U-17 World Cup since 2011. Zendejas played 424 minutes in central midfield and scored one goal in the U.S. U-17’s six matches at the 2015 CONCACAF Championships.

Zendejas was the first FC Dallas Homegrown player signed from one of its youth affiliates, FC Dallas El Paso, which became a youth affiliate of the MLS club on Sept. 26, 2011. Zendejas played with FC Dallas’ U.S. Soccer Development Academy teams from 2012 to 2014. He spent the majority of the 2014 season with the U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team Residency Camp at IMG Sports Complex in Bradenton, Fla.

The 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile runs from Oct. 17 to Nov. 8.
