FRISCO - You get to decide who will take the pitch for the MLS All-Stars to battle with UEFA Champions League Winners Real Madrid.
Why should you vote for FC Dallas Homegrown goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez? We can give you five reasons as to why Gonzalez should take the pitch against Real Madrid at Soldier Field on August 2 at 8 p.m.
Stonewall
Gonzalez is third in MLS with five clean sheets this season. That is three more than he had last season in twice as many starts (12). Gonzalez has also already won more games in net this season (4-2-6) than he had all last season.
Youngster
Gonzalez signed with FC Dallas in 2013 at the age of 16 as the 10th Homegrown player in club history. It took him two years to break into the first team, but after a combined 17 starts between 2015 and 2016, Gonzalez established himself as the main choice in the starting 11 in 2017. Gonzalez has appeared in net 12 times and allowed just 10 goals in 2017 at just 22-years-old.
Wanted
Mexico first called him into international duty at the Under-23 level in 2015. But in 2017, Gonzalez was named to the United State’s 40-man preliminary roster for the CONCACAF Gold Cup. With both countries wanting his services in net, the future appears bright for the homegrown.
Big Man
Gonzalez is one of the tallest goalkeepers in MLS. Marking in at 6 feet, 4 inches tall, he is just three inches off the tallest goalkeeper in MLS (Eirik Johansen, 6 feet, 7 inches.)
Season Accolades
In 2017, Gonzalez has been nominated for MLS Save of the Week on three occasions. With he and Chris Seitz sharing the goalkeeping duties, Gonzalez has stayed sharp.
