FRISCO – FC Dallas homegrown midfielder Kellyn Acosta has a chance to make the MLS All-Star team for the third year in the row. You can help make that happen to see him go up against Italian-powerhouse Juventus on August 1 in Atlanta.
Here are five reasons why you should vote Acosta to the All-Star team.
All-Star Veteran
Acosta has a chance to become the first FC Dallas player since Ronnie O’Brien (2004-2006) to make three consecutive MLS All-Star Games. He would join O’Brien and Jason Kreis (who was an All-Star six years in a row!) to become just the third FC Dallas player to ever accomplish this feat.
Homegrown
Acosta signed a homegrown contract in 2012 as a 16-year-old. He was the seventh player to sign a homegrown deal, a number that has grown to 22.
Getting Back To Form
Acosta missed the first seven games of the season after a sports hernia surgery. He has returned for the last seven matches, regaining his old form. He has been controlling the middle of the field.
Sustained Success
Acosta has been a crucial member of FC Dallas’ success for six years, starting 89 games for the team since 2013.
International Experience
Kellyn started four games for the U.S. team that won the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup. He has 17 caps for the national team. He was also on the roster on the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup and the 2013 and 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cups.
