FRISCO — Carlos Gruezo is looking to be selected to his first MLS All-Star team, and although he will be on international duty for the next few weeks, it's never too early to vote for the FCD midfielder to the Fan XI.
Here are three reasons why you should vote for the FC Dallas veteran.
Fancy Feet
In order to have a successful midfield, a team needs a player who can create space for himself and successfully string together key passes through dribbling and possession. Gruezo checks this box compared to different midfielders in MLS. He has a 71-percent dribble success rate this season, ranking near the top of all midfielders in the league.
DĂ©jĂ Vu
Gruezo has learned from a former European midfielder in FCD Assistant Coach Peter Luccin, who played for Atletico Madrid — MLS’ opponent in this year’s All-Star game. Learning from one of the best can get you to play like one of the best, and it’s no different in Gruezo’s situation. Getting to play against his coach’s former team would be an opportunity of a lifetime.
Successful When Available
Gruezo hasn’t been able to feature in all of FCD’s matches this season due to a variety of circumstances, but when he’s been on the pitch, the team has been successful. In the nine games he’s played in, FCD has been able to win five matches and draw twice.
