FRISCO — Since getting significant minutes for FC Dallas to start the 2019 season, Ferreira has impressed at the top of the formation for such a young player. He’s FCD’s 16th homegrown, who signed his first contract back in 2016. Now that he’s gotten his chance for his club, he’s looking to make the All-Star team for the first time in his career.
Here are three reasons to vote for the FC Dallas attacker.
It’s in the Family Name
The Ferreira name is pretty popular around the Dallas area. Ferreira’s father, David, was a star at FC Dallas back in his playing days (2009-2013), and he won the league MVP in 2010 before leading the team to the Western Conference Title. Now, it’s Jesus’s turn to take a shot at glory, and it all starts with impressing for his club and on a national level.
Big Chance Conversion Guy
Ferreira has started in 12 of the 15 matches he has appeared in this season, and he is the leading goal scorer for FCD with 4 goals on the year. He has converted 75-percent of the big chances he’s gotten in 2019, and he’s looking to convert more of them as the season progresses.
Making History
When Ferreira made his first MLS appearance back in 2017, he was just 16 years and 161 days old. When he scored his first career MLS goal in the 89th minute of the match against Real Salt Lake on June 16, 2017, he became the youngest player in club history to make an appearance, and he was the second-youngest ever to score a goal in league history. He could make even more history if he is selected as he would become the one of the youngest players to be feature in the All-Star game.
