It was a memorable year for me for several reasons. Although the season didn't end the way we had hoped, I thoroughly enjoyed working alongside our digital team, getting to know our players and showing their off-the-field personalities, and to put it plainly, getting to work on some really fun stories for our fans. Here are some of my favorite moments and stories from 2017.
Cocktails and Cleats 2017, Presented by Chase
This night was truly memorable. It was my first week with the Club and my first time covering and meeting the players. While I didn't get to cover the team in one of the most exciting seasons in FC Dallas history, it was fun to watch them enjoy the success of the 2016 season with teammates, coaches and fans alike.
Yes, I'm totally biased, but Social Media Night had to be in my top moments of the year. The stars really aligned on this one. An historic night evening filled with unforgettable moments. Lamah's hat trick, Jesus' debut and goal, Dak Prescott scarfing, and everything in between. Thanks to you, the fans and supporters, a great night for FC Dallas social media.
2017 MLS All-Star Game
MLS All-Star Week in Chicago was everything I could've imagined: exciting and fun and a little exhausting. To be around the best players in MLS as well as see Real Madrid in action was pretty surreal. Thus making it one of the most memorable moments of the year.
Hispanic Heritage Week
FCDallas.com reporter Jhannet Sanchez and I collaborated on this series leading up to our Hispanic Heritage game in September. Not to play favorites, but being that I'm also of Mexican-American, I enjoyed hearing more about Vic's family tree and his Mexican roots.
MLS Top XI of 2017
This was one of my favorite series of content for several reasons. 1) This reflects who FC Dallas players thought were the best in the league. 2) It was truly collaborative effort amongst the digital and marketing creative teams. And 3) I love the way it all turned out showcasing the best in MLS.
