FRISCO, Texas – FC Dallas and MLS have announced their full schedules for the 2020 season. Let’s take a closer look at Dallas’ opponents for its 25th season and breakdown the schedule month by month.

February
- Philadelphia Union—Feb. 29, 5PM at Toyota Stadium
FC Dallas opens the season at home against the Philadelphia Union. It won’t be an easy season opener as Dallas fell 2-1 to the Union last season in heartbreaking fashion. Dallas led 1-0 for 75 minutes thanks to a Reto Ziegler free kick but Philly came from behind and scored two goals in the final five minutes to steal all three points. Also, forward Fafa Picault recently made the off-season move from Philadelphia to Dallas and could make his competitive debut for FCD against his former club on opening day.
March
- Montreal Impact—March 7, 2 PM at Toyota Stadium
- New York City FC—March 14 at Yankee Stadium
- Seattle Sounders—March 21 at CenturyLink Field
Dallas starts the month against Thierry Henry's Montreal Impact at home and then faces two tough away matchups against NYCFC at Yankee Stadium and the reigning champs in Seattle. Last season’s game against Montreal proved to be a pivotal moment as FCD come back from three goals down to draw 3-3. Dallas’ first away trip of 2020 sees them travel to New York to play in Yankee Stadium—a venue where Dallas has never won (0-1-1). FCD’s trip back to CenturyLink field will be a spicy affair as Dallas’ 2019 season ended there in dramatic fashion with a 4-3 extra time defeat. However, in Dallas’ regular season trip to Seattle, they became the only team to earn a shutout at CenturyLink.
April
- Los Angeles FC—April 4 at Toyota Stadium
- Portland Timbers—April 11 at Providence Park
- Minnesota United—April 18 at Allianz Field
- Colorado Rapids—April 25 at DSG Park
FC Dallas’ difficult start to the season continues facing the runaway Supporters’ Shield winners LAFC in Frisco. Last season, Dallas faced LAFC twice in three days, falling 2-0 away before earning a hard-fought 1-1 draw at home. FCD rounds out April with three straight away games at Portland, Minnesota and Colorado.
May
- Chicago Fire FC—May 2 at Toyota Stadium
- Nashville SC—May 9 at First Tennessee Park
- Houston Dynamo—May 16 at Toyota Stadium
- Vancouver Whitecaps—May 23 at BC Place
- Sporting KC—May 30 at Toyota Stadium
May is FCD’s first derby month. The club faces the newly rebranded Chicago Fire FC in the Brimstone Cup to open the month before traveling to face Nashville SC for the very first time. Next up is the first Texas Derby of 2020 where Dallas will host the Houston Dynamo in Frisco. The last derby game saw Dallas demolish the Dynamo 5-1—the biggest margin of victory in Texas Derby history. FCD rounds out the month facing Vancouver on the road before returning home to take on Sporting Kansas City.
June
- Real Salt Lake—June 6 at Rio Tinto Stadium
- Inter Miami CF—June 13 at Lockhart Stadium
- Columbus Crew—June 17 at Toyota Stadium
- Minnesota United—June 20 at Toyota Stadium
- FC Cincinnati—June 27 at Nippert Stadium
June is a month of firsts for FC Dallas. The team will have its inaugural matchup against new franchise Inter Miami and also travels to play away in Cincinnati’s Nippert Stadium for the first time. Dallas also has it first midweek match of 2020, visiting the Columbus Crew on Wednesday, June 17.
July
- DC United—July 1 at Audi Field
- San Jose Earthquakes—July 4 at Toyota Stadium
- Los Angeles Galaxy—July 11 at Toyota Stadium
- Orlando City SC—Jul 18 at Toyota Stadium
- Sporting Kansas City—July 25 at Children’s Mercy Park
Dallas begins July away to D.C. United before returning to Frisco for three straight home games starting with the San Jose Earthquakes on the Fourth of July. Orlando City’s visit to Toyota Stadium on the 18th is special as it will be the first time former head coach Oscar Pareja faces FC Dallas in a competitive game since departing the club at the end of 2018. Former player Tesho Akindele also returns to Toyota Stadium for the first time since making the move to Orlando City last season.
August
- New York Red Bulls—August 1 at Red Bull Arena
- Real Salt Lake—August 8 at Toyota Stadium
- Colorado Rapids—August 15 at Toyota Stadium
- Houston Dynamo—August 20 at BBVA Compass Stadium
- Nashville SC—August 23 at Toyota Stadium
- San Jose Earthquakes—August 29 at Avaya Stadium
With six games scheduled, August is FCD’s busiest month. The club will play four games in a 14-day span, including the second leg of the Texas Derby away in Houston. With three of the six games being on the road and the lack of rest in between, August will undoubtedly be one of Dallas’ trickiest tests. FCD will also welcome Nashville SC to Toyota Stadium for the first time before heading to San Jose to close out the busy month.
September
- Portland Timbers—Sept. 5 at Toyota Stadium
- Los Angeles FC—Sept. 11 at Banc of California Stadium
- Seattle Sounders—Sept. 20 at Toyota Stadium
- Vancouver Whitecaps—Sept. 26 at Toyota Stadium
Dallas hosts three of the four games in September, including a marquee matchup with the 2019 champs on the 20th. But before that, the team travels to Los Angeles to take on 2019 MVP Carlos Vela and LAFC. Vela scored in both games against FCD last season, but also had a penalty attempt saved by Jesse Gonzalezwhich earned his team a point against the runaway leaders. Dallas’ final regular season home game comes against the Vancouver Whitecaps who earned a late 2-2 comeback tie last year in Frisco.
October
- Los Angeles Galaxy—Oct. 4 at Dignity Health Sports Park
FC Dallas closes out its 2020 regular season with a Decision Day match away to the LA Galaxy. Ideally, you’d want your Decision Day match at home but Dallas has experience beating the Galaxy on the final day of the season. In 2017, FCD hosted LA in a must-win Decision Day game. Although Dallas romped to a 5-1 win, other results went against them and FCD missed out on the playoffs on the wins tiebreaker. It’s the only season in the last six years that FC Dallas hasn’t progressed to the postseason. Regardless, Luchi Gonzalez and co. will hope to have their playoff fates sealed before making the trip out west at the start of October.
