FC Dallas midfielder Carlos Gruezo has been named to the Ecuador National Team 23-man roster for the Copa America Centenario next month.
The 21-year-old first appeared for the Ecuadorian Men’s National Team in January of 2014, shortly before being named to their roster for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Gruezo has made 10 appearances for the team but the last one was nearly a year ago. He will be a part of both tune-up matches and the team’s Copa America Centenario matches.
Gruezo will return to Toyota Stadium on May 25 when his native Ecuador, which is currently the 12th-ranked national team in the world, takes on the U.S. Men’s National Team in a friendly before the tournament begins. Ecuador is slated to take on Brazil, Peru and Haiti in the group stage of Copa America Centenario.
The Ecuadorians are led by West Ham United’s Enner Valencia and Gruezo is the only player on the 23-man roster to currently play in the United States.
