FRISCO - The offense isn't the only thing back on track for FC Dallas.
After eight games without a clean sheet, Chris Seitz and the back line held the Seattle Sounders offense to just three shots on goal en route to their second win in a week.
"It’s been that long?" said Seitz after the win. "No, it’s good. Three points is three points and clean sheets is always good in my line of business. The back line was great tonight shutting down a team with a lot of attacking power. To get a clean sheet against those guys is always good but there’s a lot of work ahead of us."
Having found a goal in the first few minutes after allowing the first goal in their last four home games was huge for an FCD team playing their second match in four days. The goal allowed Dallas to manage the game which head coach Oscar Pareja praised his side for.
"I was very pleased to see in the second half how they understood the game and what the challenges Seattle had and they solved the problems," said Pareja. "I thought the players solved it and they deserved the win. Six points in a week and the effort of the team was rewarded for sure."
After three straight road losses, the two home wins give FCD 23 points from 13 matches as they head out for two more road games before finishing the first stretch of the season at home against Houston. After that June 2nd match, the team will enjoy a 17-day Copa America break.
"The confidence is growing, the team is getting confidence and we had bad experiences the last few weeks with results that are not easy to change," said Pareja. "We lost some games that put us in a bad position defensively and today getting the clean sheet is a great reward for the boys. We’re not there yet and you can see the team is getting back in the form but there’s still a long way to go to see the team we want. Tonight I reward them due to the tactical intelligence they had and the structure they showed."
