FCD U-19s Fall to Arsenal, 2-1

The FC Dallas U-19 Academy fell 2-1 to Arsenal FC's U-19 Academy in the first game of the 2018 Dallas Cup Gordon Jago Super Group.

The first half saw Arsenal come out the gates with a huge hunger for goal that resulted in several early chances. Early on FC Dallas goalkeeper Carlos Avilez was called into action and made a fingertip save to his right on Arsenal’s forward line.

In the 10th minute, Arsenal's Saka played a ball out wide to Olayinka, who managed to find the striker, Balogun with the finish to put the visitors up, 1-0.

In the 26th minute as the ball was found on the right wing at the feet of Bryan Padilla, right back Jorge Almaguer overlapped and was played through. His shot resulted in a rifle straight past Arsenal's goalkeeper Okonkwo.

Right before the half-time whistle Pomykal split the Arsenal defense as a streaking Gibran Rayo managed to get behind the defense. Rayo was left 1v1 against the goalkeeper and his resulting shot went wide almost putting FCD in the lead right before half.

As the second half progressed, Arsenal found themselves more dangerous on the attack and as a ball found the feet of Bukayo Saka, he cut inside to the left and fired in a shot from 25 yards out past FCD goalkeeper, Carlos Avilez. The goal put Arsenal back in the lead with a  2-1 scoreline.

FCD managed some chances of their own when Paga found himself on goal in the 69th minute and fired a shot saved by Arsenal’s goalkeeper. Emmanuel Paga later made a run down the left wing where he managed off a shot that skipped off the near post.
