Draw vs. Seattle Sounders FC a Bittersweet Result for FC Dallas Team Still in Search of a Win

FRISCO - It’s a tough result for FC Dallas to swallow.

On one hand, the 0-0 draw against Seattle on Saturday night was an improvement defensively for a team that has allowed 19 goals in the previous eight. On the other, the team desperately needed the full three points as they continue to hover near the playoff line and push their winless streak to nine games.

“You have to be realistic with the players. They know the moment. They know what is going on and what we are going through,” head coach Oscar Pareja said after the match, which he said defensively was a big step forward. “I would like them to achieve what they achieved last year. I want them to get the points each week and we all walk out of here with a smile on our face but at this time we are just trying to get through this rough spell. We have to keep fighting. It’s what we are.”

The team is taking the positives it can, but it’s still a tough pill to swallow given their current run.

“The whole week we’ve been preaching that we wanted the three points and we fell short tonight,” midfielder Victor Ulloa said. “We have to get results on the road now. It’s coming down to the end of the year.”

Dallas will now head into a difficult three-games-in-eight-days stretch beginning next Saturday in Minnesota against the newcomers and then back home a week from Wednesday against Colorado, both of whom are hovering at the bottom of the conference.

“It’s a fight. We have six games left for our future and to make it to the playoffs,” defender Matt Hedges said. “We have to fight every game. Every point is vital for us.”
