FC Dallas to face San Antonio Scorpions in fourth round of Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup

FRISCO, Texas – FC Dallas will meet North American Soccer League side, San Antonio Scorpions in the fourth round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup tournament at Toyota Stadium on Tuesday, June 17.

San Antonio advanced to the tournament’s fourth round by defeating the United States Adult Soccer Association’s North Texas Rayados, 4-2, at Toyota Field in San Antonio, Texas, on Wednesday, May 28.   

Having competed in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup since 1996, FC Dallas has forged a record of 27-15-0 all-time in the competition. FC Dallas won the tournament in 1997, two years before the competition was rebranded in honor of FC Dallas’ eventual owner, Lamar Hunt.

FC Dallas has advanced to the U.S. Open Cup Final on three occasions, defeating D.C. United to claim the 1997 title and finishing as runners-up to the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2005 and the New England Revolution in 2007. Last season, the team advanced to the quarterfinal round, where it lost a 3-2 match to the Portland Timbers.
