FRISCO - For the second consecutive season, the FC Dallas girls ECNL program flexed its muscle against the best teams in Texas.
After having four teams qualify for the ‘Champions League’ section of the ECNL Nationals last season, Dallas did the same in the 2016-17 season.
The U-15, U-16, U-17 and U-19 teams all finished in the top three in the Texas Conference in each of their age groups. This included first place finishes by the U-16 and U-19 teams.
This past season also marked a banner year for the program with those four teams all qualifying for the national playoffs, and the U-19 team qualifying for the national finals.
In 72 total matches, the four teams combined to lose just 10 games, with the U-16 squad posting a 15-1-2 record. That team was led by forward Diana Ordonez from Prosper.
Ordonez was recognized for her play with FC Dallas and Prosper High School by receiving an invite to the United States Under-17 Women’s National team camp in San Diego, California, from June 2 – 11. The camp is being used as preparation for the team before it travels to China and then begins qualification matches for the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay.
Ordonez was also took part in the 40-player USWNT U-17 camp in Florida in May.
Ordonez is one of several FC Dallas ECNL players expected to be a part of FC Dallas’ inaugural U.S. Soccer Development Girls’ Academy season starting this fall.
