FRISCO, Texas (Thursday, May 30) – FC Dallas and Houston Dynamo are bringing their Texas Derby to the centennial edition of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup with a fourth round matchup at FC Dallas Stadium on Wednesday, June 12. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m.

All tickets for the match will be $20 general admission seats with the exception of season ticket holders. All full season ticket holders can reserve their normal seat location with a $12 donation to the Tickets for Troops program, while partial plan holders can reserve seats with a $15 donation. The Budweiser Beer Garden will also be open for the match, while the River Club by WinStar World Casino will be open to everyone.

The Texas Derby between the two clubs is an annual battle for a Civil War era cannon dubbed El Capitan. FC Dallas is currently in possession of the cannon after earning a 3-2 win over the Dynamo at FC Dallas Stadium on March 17. FC Dallas is 4-9-7 all-time in regular-season MLS competition against the Dynamo.

FC Dallas has advanced to the U.S. Open Cup Final on three occasions, defeating D.C. United to claim the 1997 title and finishing as runners-up to the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2005 and the New England Revolution in 2007. In 2011, the team advanced to the semi-final round before falling to eventual champion Seattle Sounders FC.

The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, the U.S. Soccer Federation’s National Championship, is an annual competition open to all amateur and professional soccer teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer. It is the oldest annual team tournament in U.S. sports history and among the oldest soccer tournaments of its type in the world. In 1999, the competition was renamed to honor long-time soccer pioneer Lamar Hunt.
