Ecuadoran returns home to rehab and gain match fitness; set to return to FC Dallas in 2018
FRISCO, Texas – FC Dallas is sending 21-year-old Ecuadorian left back, Aníbal Chalá, on loan to Ecuadorian Serie A side L.D.U. Quito through Dec. 31, 2017.
“We’re disappointed,” said FC Dallas technical director Fernando Clavijo. “We expected a lot of things from him this year and then we found out in preseason that he had a sports hernia issue. He has not been able to rehab fully here. He still has a little bit of pain. With FC Dallas doing so well, and him being so young, we agreed the best thing for him would be to play. Back in Ecuador, it will be easier for him to recover and get back into games and come back here next year with his batteries charged.”
From 2013 to 2016, Chalá logged nearly 9,500 minutes in 116 league appearances for Ecuadorian first division side El Nacional. The left back found the back of the net twice last season. He was a member of the Ecuadorian Under-20 side in 2015.
