PORTLAND -- Earning a point on the road is never easy in Major League Soccer. And since the Timbers joined the league in 2011, taking a point from Portland has proven to be a daunting task. Which is while you'll rarely hear a draw at Providence Park referred to as a disappointing result by any visiting side.
But there was no more accurate word from the Dallas perspective after a penalty call and two red cards in the final 15 minutes saw a 2-0 lead end in a 2-2 tie.
"We are disappointed," said head coach Oscar Pareja after the match. "We had the three points and coming out with a point now doesn’t make us happy."

Team captain Andrew Jacobson echoed Pareja's sentiments after the game.
"I thought we deserved the three points," said the veteran midfielder. "We did what we wanted to do, implemented what we set out to do and we got one point instead of three."
Despite the final result, there were silver linings to be found for FC Dallas after Wednesday night's match.

"For us to be disappointed to take a draw here is a positive sign for us," midfielder Adam Moffat said, referring to the squad's mentality toward settling for a point on the road.
And Pareja said he thought his team's play was reflective of their desire to earn three points on the road.
"We have to praise the players," said the FC Dallas manager. "They gave it all today. They had great opportunities going forward. [I know] a lot of people enjoyed our team’s play tonight."
