FRISCO - It’s the annual MLS 24 Under 24 season and FC Dallas midfielder Carlos Gruezo has joined Jesse Gonzalez on the list, both being named among the league’s best young players for a second straight year.
A standout in the defensive midfield for Dallas, Gruezo is set to eclipse his 2016 totals in games played, starts and minutes played in the coming week. The 22-year-old has added three assists to his resume this season and has 49 tackles through 26 games, leading all FCD players and tied for 14th best among all players in MLS.
The Ecuadorian has also returned to his country's National Team picture, earning his first call-up of 2017 during the September FIFA international window.
MLSSoccer.com is releasing players 24-21 Monday, 20-16 Tuesday, 11-15 on Wednesday and the Top 10 24 Under 24 players on Thursday this week. FC Dallas had four players named to the 50-man short list for this year's honors: Gonzalez, Gruezo, Kellyn Acosta and Paxton Pomykal.
