FC Dallas midfielder Hendry Thomas undergoes successful surgery to repair torn left ACL

FRISCO, Texas (Monday, July 21) – FC Dallas midfielder Hendry Thomas underwent a successful operation to repair the ACL in his left knee using a patellar tendon graph today at Texas Health Center for Diagnostics & Surgery.

The surgery was performed by FC Dallas’ team doctor, Jim Walter. Thomas suffered the injury in the 28th minute of a 5-2 win over the Carolina RailHawks in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday, July 9.

Prior to the injury, Thomas had logged 770 minutes in league play for FC Dallas this season. He recorded an assist on Fabian Castillo’s 71st minute goal in an eventual 3-1 victory against Chivas USA on March 22.

Thomas signed with FC Dallas via trade with Colorado on Feb. 12, 2014. Thomas, 29, began his career with Club Deportivo Olimpia of the Honduran first division in 2001. He appeared in the 2010 World Cup and the 2008 Olympics for Honduras. His most recent cap came in September of 2011.
