FC Dallas players & coaches dedicate derby win to traveling fans

Fans Texas Derby

HOUSTON - FC Dallas had perhaps their best performance of the young season on Friday night at BBVA Compass Stadium, defeating their rivals from Houston 4-1 for the second straight year and after the match, FCD players and coaches praised another strong showing from the away fans.

"It is so difficult to play away games and derbys," said David Texeira after the win. "Everyone was anticipating this game and we really appreciated the fans from FC Dallas to come here and support us. That was extra motivation for us having so many people around in the stadium."

In addition to the hundreds of FCD supporters group members singing near the top of the stadium, roars from pockets of FCD fans came out after each of the four goals scored on Friday night.

"It was a derby and we know what it represents for the fans. It was great to see them here at the field and great to see the players giving all the effort they gave today," said Oscar Pareja. "The points are very well deserved. We played very well today and credit goes to the group of players."

As mentioned plenty of times in the build up to the first rivalry match of the season, the fight for El Capitan is far from over as FCD and Houston play twice more, both at Toyota Stadium. The next Texas Derby pres. by Novo Nordisk comes on Friday, June 26th.

"We want to dedicate the win to all the fans that came down from Dallas," said Fabian Castillo. "And to enjoy the three points."
