Muzzi to oversee all aspects of player personnel, scouting and team administration
FRISCO – FC Dallas has promoted Luiz Muzzi to Vice President of Soccer Operations. Technical Director Fernando Clavijo is stepping away from the organization to focus on his personal health.
“Luiz and Fernando have done a phenomenal job building our current roster and Luiz has been an important part of our technical staff for the last six years,” said FC Dallas President Dan Hunt. “They played a key role in bringing players such as Abel Aguilar, Pablo Aranguiz, Santiago Mosquera, Anton Nedyalkov, Marquinhos Pedroso and Reto Ziegler to FC Dallas this season. I know Luiz will do an outstanding job in his new role.”
Muzzi, who joined FC Dallas in 2012 as the Director of Soccer and Assistant Technical Director, will lead the club’s player personnel, scouting and team administration operations. Prior to joining FC Dallas, he was the Director of Soccer for Traffic Sports in Miami, Fla. from 2003 through 2012. During his time with Traffic Sports, Muzzi served as the General Manager for Miami FC (now the Fort Lauderdale Strikers) of the NASL between 2005 and 2010. Muzzi holds a master’s degree in information sciences from the University of Florida as well as a masters in sports management from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Muzzi speaks English, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian and French.
Clavijo joined FC Dallas on March 7, 2012 as the club’s Technical Director. Under his guidance, FC Dallas developed rosters that blended Homegrown players from the FC Dallas Academy with talented international players from Central America, South America and Europe.
