FRISCO, Texas (Wednesday, March 11, 2015) – FC Dallas has re-signed Jamaican defender/midfielder Je-Vaughn Watson, pending the receipt of his P-1 Visa, the club announced today. Per team and league policy, the terms of the agreement will not be disclosed.
Watson, 31, was initially traded to FC Dallas from the Houston Dynamo on Feb. 19, 2013, in exchange for Dallas’ second-round pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. He made his FC Dallas debut on the opening day of the 2013 season, a 1-0, win against a Colorado Rapids team coached by current FC Dallas head coach Oscar Pareja.
Watson appeared in 55 of 68 regular season matches for FC Dallas in the past two seasons, scoring six goals and picking up four assists. Watson scored the first three game-winning goals of his MLS career while with Dallas. His first came in the 77th minute of his eighth game with Dallas, a 2-1 win against D.C. United on May 11, 2013. Watson also scored a game-winner in the 78th minute of a 3-1 win against Chivas USA on March 22, 2014. His latest game-winner was his best. Watson netted two goals in a 4-1 victory against his former team, the Dynamo, on April 5, 2014.
A mainstay of the Jamaican National Team, Watson has appeared in 32 matches and has scored one goal for the Reggae Boyz. He made his international debut in a match against El Salvador played at Toyota Stadium on July 26, 2008.
