FC Dallas acquires Minnesota’s 2022 MLS SuperDraft Fourth Round pick

FRISCO, Texas (Dec. 13, 2020) – FC Dallas has traded defender Callum Montgomery to Minnesota United FC in MLS Half-Day Trade Window in exchange for Minnesota’s fourth round 2022 MLS SuperDraft pick, the club announced today.


Additionally, FC Dallas could receive up to $50,000 in General Allocation Money if Montgomery meets certain performance metrics while with Minnesota United.


Montgomery, 23, was selected No. 4 overall by FC Dallas in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft. He spent the 2020 season on loan with USL Championship side San Antonio FC, where he started in nine matches and scored two goals in 808 minutes.


Montgomery made his professional debut on March 30, 2019 for 2019 USL League One title-winners, North Texas Soccer Club. He started in 22 matches for North Texas SC, scoring three goals in 1,958 minutes played. Montgomery made his FC Dallas debut in a friendly against Liga MX’s Club Tijuana on July 7, 2019.


He played four seasons at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte where he started 70 matches and scored 11 goals and added seven assists for Charlotte. He was named to the United Soccer Coaches’ First Team All-American and Conference USA Defender of the Year in 2018.
