FRISCO - After losing just twice in 27 regular season games, the FC Dallas U-14 team carried its strong form into the season-ending U.S. Soccer Development Academy Summer Showcase this past week.
Held in Westfield, Indiana, the Showcase was open exclusively to the U-14 age group. There was no formal structure to the Showcase, as it is used as an opportunity for the best U-14 teams in the country to face opponents they otherwise would not have.
In three matches, FC Dallas posted a 2-1 record, scoring 10 goals while conceding just five.
After starting the Showcase with a narrow 1-0 defeat to the New York Red Bulls on Tuesday, Dallas displayed its offensive might in its final two games.
An 8-3 victory against Sacramento Republic on Wednesday was followed by a come-from-behind 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy on Friday, to ensure Dallas finished the Showcase with a winning mark.
Dante Sealy led FC Dallas in scoring during the Showcase. The New York-native scored all four of his goals during the win against Sacramento.
Ricardo Pepi totaled three goals for Dallas during the Showcase, with a brace against Sacramento and the winning-goal against Los Angeles.
Cesar Garcia, Lucah Flores and Giovanny Almanza also scored for Dallas over the course of the three matches.
The Showcase was held at the same venue as the USSDA Playoffs, which both the FC Dallas U-16 and U-18 teams are participating in.
