Update:On Saturday, Aug. 21 FC Dallas defeated Chivas USA 1-0 at Pizza Hut Park. The FCD victory means Chivas USA president Shawn Hunter will donate four 2011 season tickets to Doug Quinn's charity of choice, the Frisco Miracle League. FRISCO, Texas – FC Dallas President and CEO Doug Quinn and his Chivas USA counterpart Shawn Hunter go way back ̶ like when J.R. Ewing was still alive way back. Classmates at Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village, Kansas during the late 1970s, both men now lead Major League Soccer clubs – and on
Saturday, August 21 their respective sides will meet here in Texas.
The game, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Pizza Hut Park and airing live on Fox Soccer Channel, is now the object of a friendly wager – loser buys four 2011 season tickets for the winner’s charity of choice. Should the two sides play to a draw, each CEO will purchase two tickets for the opponent’s charity of choice.
FC Dallas and Chivas USA last met June 26 at the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles, with Dallas netting a 2-1 victory thanks to an own goal from Ante Jazic and a successful penalty kick by David Ferreira. The only Chivas USA goal came from newcomer Osael Romero, who Chivas coincidentally secured the rights to via a trade with FC Dallas earlier this season.
The June win at Chivas USA marked game three in the Dallas side’s current 10-game unbeaten streak.
