FRISCO, Texas – Former goalkeeper and Dallas Burn/FC Dallas legend Mark Dodd will return to the club on Saturday to perform the ceremonial scarfing of the Lamar Hunt stature at Toyota Stadium ahead of the 2PM kickoff against Thierry Henry’s Montreal Impact.
Dodd played 92 games for the Burn between 1996 and ’99, winning Goalkeeper of the Year in the league’s inaugural season. He helped Dallas reach the playoffs in each of his four campaigns and still holds the single season saves record with 191 set in 1997 (including postseason). Dodd was also the hero in the Burn’s 1997 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup victory as he helped Dallas defeat D.C. United in penalties to earn the club’s first trophy.
“I have so many great memories playing here in Dallas,” Dodd said. “The start of a new season is always special and it’s just fantastic seeing the energy surrounding the league these days.”
