FRISCO − On Tuesday, former FC Dallas goalkeeper Dan Kennedy announced his retirement from professional soccer. After 10 seasons of playing in MLS, Kennedy will transition from player to front office in a role with the LA Galaxy.
“I think everyone’s going to miss those giant calves,” said Chris Seitz, jokingly. “We’re happy for him. He’s landed on his feet. He’s obviously still going to school and also found a job at LA but good for him. He’s going to do well in the front office and be helpful. Congrats to him for making the jump.”
After coming to FC Dallas as the number one overall selection in the 2014 MLS Dispersal Draft, Kennedy went on to 16 starts with the club. In late 2015, FC Dallas sent Kennedy to the LA Galaxy in exchange for the club’s natural second and third round selections in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft.
Defender Matt Hedges had nothing but support for his former teammate. “He’s a great guy off the field and a great player on the field. He had a great career and we’re happy that he gets to move on and do something else.”
