Four FC Dallas Players Headed Overseas with US Youth National Teams

Garcia, Redzic and Sealy Call-Ups

FRISCO - Four members of the FC Dallas Academy have been called in to their respective National Teams this week. 


Midfielder Cesar Garciaand forward Beni Redzic will join the U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team will travel to Benicassim, Spain to and participate in a series of friendlies against India and Norway in the 2018 Sportchain Cup. John Hackworth's side will face India on April 16 and 19 and take on Norway on April 17 and 21. All the matches will be played at the FACSA Sports Centrein Benicassim. It is Garcia's first call up during the 2018-19 U-17 MNT player cycle.


Both have played with the FCD U-17 Academy this season, Garcia starting 13 matches and appearing in three more, and Redzic playing in 13 games and leading the team with 14 goals on the year - ranking sixth in the nation in goals per game (1.077).

ForwardDante Sealy and midfielder Edwin Villarreal (not pictured) have been called in by U.S. Under-16 Boys’ National Team head coach Shaun Tsakiris for the upcoming Torneo delle Nazioni in Gradisca d’Isonzo, Italy, that runs from April 19-May 2. The U.S. has been drawn into Group A and opens tournament play against Italy on Tuesday, April 24. The team then plays Libya on Thursday, April 26 before concluding group play against Croatia on Friday, April 27.


The tournament fields three additional four-team groups consisting of Czech Republic, England, Japan and United Arab Emirates in Group B, Mexico, Romania, Russia, and Slovenia in Group C, and Austria, Costa Rica, Norway and Portugal in Group D. Although all 16 teams will play in an additional two games after the group stage to determine final placement, only the group winners will advance to the semifinals on April 29 for a chance to play in the tournament final on May 1. The USA is the defending champion of the tournament after winning the 14th edition of the Torneo delle Nazioni in 2017.


Sealy has also spent the season with the U-17 Academy, scoring seven goals in 11 games. Villarreal has played in 12 matches for the U-15 Academy team with three goals to his name.
