USL League Structure

UNITED SOCCER LEAGUE


The United Soccer League is the official corporate name of the organization that runs and oversees the USL Championship, USL League One and USL League Two. The organization’s headquarters are based in Tampa, Fla.


The organization should be referred to as the United Soccer League on first reference, and as the USL on second reference. There should be no pluralization of the corporate organization’s official name.

USL CHAMPIONSHIP


The USL Championship is the flagship division of the United Soccer League, sanctioned by the U.S. Soccer Federation as its sole Division II league for the 2018 season. It should be referred to in full as the USL Championship on first reference and may be referred to as the Championship on second reference.

USL LEAGUE ONE


USL League One is scheduled to launch in March 2019 having submitted its application for Division III sanctioning to the U.S. Soccer Federation in August 2018. The division should be referred to as USL League One on first reference and may be referred to as League One on second reference. It should never be referred to as The USL League One, USL League 1, or League 1.

USL LEAGUE TWO


USL League Two – formerly the Premier Development League – is the preeminent pre-professional division of soccer in the United States and Canada. The division should be referred to as USL League Two on first reference and may be referred to as League Two on second reference. It should never be referred to as The USL League Two, USL League 2, or League 2.
