FRISCO — There hasn't been much to complain about when looking to FC Dallas' recent history in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Fourth Round. The club is currently riding an eight-game win streak in the Fourth Round, and it hasn’t lost since falling to the Colorado Rapids in 2004, 3-0. This season, FCD will face OKC Energy FC in the Fourth Round, two sides that have been familiar with each other in recent Open Cup history.
Dallas’ all-time first-team record against OKC Energy FC is 2-0, with both matchups coming in Open Cup play. The two sides met in 2015 and 2016, with FC Dallas winning both matchups 4-1, and 6-5 in penalty kicks, respectively. In 2015, Michael Barrios netted a brace and an assist, and in 2016, it was the first win in FCD's Open Cup championship run.
Last season, FCD took a trip down south to face San Antonio SC in a tough 1-0 win after Tesho Akindele scored the winning goal just a minute into the second half. The team held on against a persistent San Antonio squad that was looking to pull an upset on home soil. It was a close-call for FCD, but it proved yet again how successful the club has been in the round.
In all Fourth Round matchups in the Open Cup, FC Dallas is 8-2, outscoring opponents 21-15 since 2003.
