INTERNATIONAL: Homegrown Quartet Called into U.S. National Team Camp

U-20 and U-23 call up DL3

FC Dallas players have now earned 23 UnitedHealthcare International Call-ups this season

FRISCO, Texas – FC Dallas Homegrown players Edwin Cerrillo, Jesús Ferreira and Brandon Servania have been called into the U-23 National Team training camp, while Homegrown midfielder Thomas Roberts has been called into the U-20s camp running concurrently from September 1-10. FC Dallas Academy players Kevin Bonilla and Tanner Tessmann will also join Roberts at the U-20s camp.


Cerrillo, Ferreira and Servania will report to Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center and the U-20s will report to Rogaska Slatina, Slovenia following FC Dallas’ match against FC Cincinnati on August 31 at Toyota Stadium.


Cerrillo, 18, has one assist in 11 appearances for FC Dallas this season after signing as the club’s 24th Homegrown on February 14, 2019. He made his professional debut after subbing in the 79th minute of the 2-0 win against LA Galaxy and assisted in Bryan Acosta’s game-winning goal against Atlanta United FC on April 20. Cerrillo has also started in four matches for North Texas Soccer Club. Cerrillo earned his first U.S. call up in May to participate in FIFA U-20 World Cup but has yet to make an appearance in the U.S. program.


Ferreira, 18, leads FC Dallas with seven goals in 27 appearances this season. He was the youngest player to sign with FC Dallas at 15 years and 329 days old after signing as the 16th Homegrown in club history back in 2016. This is his third call-up ever to the U.S. program after being called into the U-20 January camp earlier this year. The 18-year-old still holds dual eligibility for both the U.S. and Colombian federations.


Servania, 20, started the 2019 season with four starts for North Texas SC before joining the U-20’s National Team in Poland for the U-20 World Cup. He scored the first goal of the tournament for the U.S. in the 2-1 loss against the Ukraine on May 24. Since returning from the U-20 World Cup, Servania has started in nine out of 12 appearances for FC Dallas, recording two goals and two assists.

INTERNATIONAL: Homegrown Quartet Called into U.S. National Team Camp -

The Homegrown trio and the U-23 team will face Olympic host Japan in an international friendly on September 9 in Chula Vista as the U.S. aims to qualify for its first Men’s Olympic Tournament since 2008. The 2020 Concacaf Olympic Qualifying Championship will run from March 20 through April 1 in Guadalajara, Mexico.


Roberts, 18, earns his first call-up to the U-20 camp, after attending the U.S. U-19’s January camp earlier this season. He has three starts in six appearances for FC Dallas this season after signing as the 23rd Homegrown in team history on July 25, 2018. He has also appeared in eight matches for North Texas SC during the 2019 season and has scored two goals.


Bonilla, 17, appeared in 26 matches for the FC Dallas U-18/19 Academy team between 2018-2019. He made his professional debut with North Texas SC on March 30 against the Chattanooga Red Wolves SC and has started in 12 out of 13 matches for North Texas SC since then.


Tessmann, 17, won the U-18/19 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Golden Ball as the postseason’s best player, helping lead FC Dallas to the U-18/19 Academy Championship. He has started in nine out of 14 appearances for North Texas SC during the 2019 season and scored his first professional goal in the 4-1 win against Orlando City B on May 11. 


Roberts and company will play matches against Croatia (September 5) and United Arab Emirates U-23 (September 9) as the U-20s start a new two-year cycle.
