Pomykal got the U.S. on the board quickly, finding forward Justin Rennicks on a cross to take the lead in the 5th minute.

Later in the half, FC Dallas midfielder Brandon Servania , who also started the tournament's opening match, intercepted a pass and had a quick combination before linking up with Pomykal inside the 18. Pomykal beat the goalie and one more defender before finding the bottom corner of the net to give the United States a 3-0 lead.
