FRISCO- Mexico’s national U-17 women’s soccer team made history, becoming the first Mexican team at any age level to get to the final of a women’s world cup.
FC Dallas U-17 defender, Reyna Reyes played a full 90 minutes with Mexico as the team beat Canada 1-0 in the semi-final match of the FIFA U-17 world cup championship. Team captain, Nicole Pérez score the lone goal in a penalti kick in the first half.
Spain or Mexico will be lifting the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup trophy and it will be the first Women's World Cup final triumph at any age level for either nation as they face off at 4pm CST tomorrow. ‘La Furia Roja,’ advanced to the final by beating New Zealand 2-0 at the end of the the 90 minutes.
Mexico along with Reyna Reyes who has started in four out of five matches with 'El Tri' will need a solid defense as they face Spain knowing two out of the three top scorers, Laudia Pina (5) and Irene Lopez (3) are a part of 'La Roja'. Keep in mind Mexico, Canada and New Zealand all made history in Montevideo, Uruguay by advancing to the last four for the first time in a U-17 women’s world cup.
