FC Dallas' very own Maynor Figueroa was apart of the opening round of games in the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Figueroa went the full 90 minutes in the middle of the Honduras backline in a 1-0 loss to Costa Rica.
San Jose Earthquake forward Marco Ureña provide the match’s only goal with a sweet volley into the bottom-left hand corner that would be the difference maker.
Despite the goal conceded, Figueroa and the Honduras backline held solid, allowing just one more shot on target.
Figueroa had limited involvement offensively, as he just mustered two shots. Figueroa will now help Honduras shift its focus to a clash with Group A leaders Canada in Toyota Stadium. The FC Dallas defender will lead his country into a match in his home stadium for the first time on July 14.
Honduras will face Canada as part two of a Gold Cup double-header in Frisco. Costa Rica and The French Guiana will get the day started with a match at 6:30 p.m., Honduras versus Canada will follow after.
