FC Dallas has earned 30 MoneyGram International Call-Ups in 2017
FRISCO – FC Dallas’ Kellyn Acosta (USA) and Maynor Figueroa (Honduras) have been called in to represent their respective countries during the FIFA International break running Tuesday, October 2 through Tuesday, October 10.
Acosta and the U.S. (2-3-3, 4th place) are aiming to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia in its final two matches. The first is versus Panama (2-2-4, 3rd place), at Orlando City Stadium on Friday, October 6 at 6 p.m. CT. The second match is set for Tuesday, October 10 at Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, Trinidad (1-7-0 6th place) at 7 p.m. CT.
"It’s a great honor getting called up," Acosta said. "There are big games ahead and I’m looking forward to it. I’m excited for it and it’s imperative that we get this win on Friday and we move on and look on to Tuesday."
Figueroa and Honduras (2-3-3, 5th place) are also looking to qualify for next year’s World Cup. Los Catrachos travel to Costa Rica (4-1-3, 2nd place) on Friday, October 6 at 9 p.m. CT. Honduras hosts Mexico on Tuesday, October 10 at 7 p.m. CT.
The top three teams in the Hexagonal advance to the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The fourth place team will advance to an intercontinental playoff with either Syria or Australia in November.
