Kellyn Acosta Men In Blazers

FRISCO - Kellyn Acosta is everywhere.

From goals in the CONCACAF Champions League to scoring for the United States Men's National Team, Acosta's midfield play is drawing attention.

As such, the Plano native recently sat down with Roger Bennett to record an episode of the Men In Blazers podcast. The pair touched on a number of topics during their discussion, including the Homegrown's early days in soccer and his fit with his hometown club.

"Oscar really tries to spread the movement of 'play your kids,'" Acosta said. "It shows that we are making players that are professionally ready to go out there and contribute."

Acosta's recent performances with the USMNT were heavily featured in the podcast. The 21-year-old said he drew on his CCL experience with FC Dallas when starting for the U.S. against Mexico at the Estadio Azteca on June 11.

"We played in the CCL against Pachuca, so when I was playing in that atmosphere, I felt it was pretty similar," Acosta said. "I felt pretty comfortable in it."

A number of stories concerning Acosta were shared on the episode, from watching his coach Oscar Pareja play at the Cotton Bowl with the Dallas Burn, to the advice given to him by Michael Bradley ahead of the Mexico game.

The infamous anecdote about Acosta being left off his high school's varsity soccer team was also discussed.
