SANDY, Utah – FC Dallas heads to Utah to take on Real Salt Lake. FCD is looking to pick up its third win in nine days. Let’s take a look at Oscar Pareja’s starting XI for the match.
The 4-3-3
Dallas will return to a 4-3-3 formation after being in a 4-4-2 on Wednesday against Atlanta. With the quick turnaround, the lineup has more changes than usual.
Victor Ulloa and Carlos Gruezo will remain in the middle, but Kellyn Acosta will join them for the match. Acosta is rejoining the starting lineup after being used as a substitute in the last two matches.
Riding the Wave
After scoring two goals in 15 minutes against Atlanta, Tesho Akindele will earn his first start of the season for FCD. He will take over Maxi Urruti’s role at striker.
Akindele has started 62 regular season games for FCD since 2014 and he has scored 19 of his 24 goals in games he has started.
Fresh Faces
Ema Twumasi’s first appearance for FCD in MLS-play will be a start. He is starting at left wing with Akindele and Michael Barriosalso up top. Twumasi's only appearance for FCD was in the Open Cup match against San Antonio FC, where he recorded two shots in 90 minutes.
Kris Reaves will get his second start of the season. After filling in at center back for Reto Ziegler in Minnesota, he will make the start at left back for Maynor Figueroa.
70 Straight For Barrios
Michael Barrios is set to start the match and it will be the 70th game in a row that he has appeared in, a streak dating back to June 19, 2016. His 69 games is tied for the longest active streak in the league with Chris Wondolowski.
