2021 Season

LINEUP NOTES, pres. by UnitedHealthcare: FC Dallas vs. Colorado Rapids | 7.21.21

2021 Lineup Notes

FRISCO, Texas - Head coach Luchi Gonzalez fields an unchanged lineup as FC Dallas takes on the Colorado Rapids tonight, July 21 at 8PM at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. Here's the lineup notes, pres. by UnitedHealthcare.

Consistency
FC Dallas lines up with the same Starting XI back-to-back games for just the second time this season. Although FCD lost its last outing 1-0 to the Portland Timbers, the road performance was among the team's best of the season. With Dallas playing away again tonight, Luchi has opted to stick with the same eleven once again.

Paxton Starts Again
Midfielder Paxton Pomykal gets his third start of the year and will again play from the left wing. The Homegrown had a strong showing in Portland and was Dallas’ main creative spark for much of the night. Of tonight's starters, Pomykal has the ability to trouble Colorado’s backline with driving runs forward, so expect to be among Dallas' more dangerous attacking threats.

Hollingshead vs. Mikey
Tonight’s game could be a big one for Ryan Hollingshead. The versatile defender lines up at left back and will likely be tasked with keeping tabs on former FCD winger Michael Barrios. Barrios is the Rapids’ joint highest goal scorer (3) and assist leader (4) and the speedy Colombian was on the scoresheet in the clubs’ previous meeting in May. However, he’s less known for his defensive contributions so Hollingshead may have the opportunity to get forward and provide the overlap option for Pomykal on the left wing.
