FERREIRA DROPS BACK

Forward Jesus Ferreira drops back to top of the midfield this week as Paxton Pomykal is questionable due to a lower body strain. We saw Ferreira perform well in this spot on Wednesday against Sevilla as Dominique Badji continues to lead the attack up top. Although we've seen Ferreira play in this position a couple times, it will be a new test of depth and versatility as players move positionally.

BACKLINE STATUS QUO

The backline continues to appear as the status quo with a heavy veteran status across all positions. The backline has continued to show its importance and persistence as the season progresses, especially as depth and positions have been tested. With two co-captains holding in the backline with Reto Ziegler and Matt Hedges, along with Reggie Cannon and Ryan Hollingshead defending the outer field, the backline will be tough to get past to reach Jesse Gonzalez in the box.

ATTACKING TEAMWORK

Head coach Luchi Gonzalez seems to have found some good chemistry along his frontline. Michael Barrios, Santiago Mosquera, and Dominique Badji have found a rhythm that performs well in setting up opportunities on goal. Along with the three up top, having Ferreira in the top of the midfield could add another for the attack to pull from in goal opportunities against Sporting Kansas City. We continue to see growth across the field in the attack as the season continues to progress.
