FRISCO, Texas- FC Dallas will look to take three points tonight against the reputable D.C. United at Toyota Stadium. In yet another quick turnaround following the match against the Portland Timbers on June 29th, there are a few changes in the lineup this week as FCD works through this vigorous stretch of games. Let's take a look at tonight's Lineup Notes, presented by UnitedHealthCare.
MOSQUERA MOVES UP
After recovering from a knee injury sustained against the New York Red Bulls, Santiago Mosquera has seen limited minutes on the field. He was subbed on in the last three games, but has not seen a start since May 11th. Tonight he returns to the starting XI on the attack with Michael Barrios and Jesus Ferreira to change the look in the front line. This move also gives Dominique Badji rest as he is listed as a sub for the attacking front after multiple strong games throughout the past month.
DEFENSE STAYS CONSISTENT
Over this intense stretch, the backline has seemed to have found a good chemistry. With Reggie Cannon still out at Concacaf Gold Cup we have seen Bressan, Matt Hedges, Reto Ziegler, and Ryan Hollingshead hold down the back of the field. Each week this defense has shown that it will close the gaps when needed. Bressan scored his first MLS goal, and Hollinsghead has added another goal to his stat sheet in this window as well. The veteran status of the backline defense has allowed for a leadership to continue to push FC Dallas to grow and build throughout the field. The group will look to shutdown D.C. United's attack early tonight.
ACOSTA RETURNS TO THE MIDFIELD
The midfield will continue to have a younger look with Paxton Pomykal and Brandon Servania staying in their same spots they have over the past few weeks. After being on the bench last week following his return from Gold Cup, midfielder Bryan Acosta returns to the starting XI. Pomykal has taken over the number 10 slot showing persistent and creativity in the top half of the field to create chances. Brandon Servania has built a strong footing in his spot across the midfield and with a defense focused game ahead, Acosta will provide a level of leadership to the younger midfield.
