Looking back: The 2015 series between FC Dallas & Seattle Sounders FC

FCD v SEA

FC Dallas and Seattle Sounders FC battle for the second straight year in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs but it will be the first meeting between the teams in nearly six months on Sunday night at CenturyLink Field. Let's take a look back at the two matches contested between FCD and Seattle this season:

FC Dallas 0 Seattle Sounders FC 0 - Saturday, March 28th

FC Dallas hosted Seattle in late March with a perfect 3-0-0 record and dominated the early stages of the match before a 17th-minute red card to Kellyn Acosta changed the game.

Both teams went in with depleted lineups as the Sounders, dealing with a number of injuries left Clint Dempsey and Obafemi Martins home while neither Chad Marshall nor Osvaldo Alonso were available either for Sigi Schmid's side.

The match ended up being a snoozer as, for the first time in franchise history, neither team registered a shot on goal in a weird match turned on its head by the red card to Acosta. The depleted Sounders lineup was content for the point as was an FCD team playing with ten men for nearly the entire match.

Seattle Sounders FC 3 FC Dallas 0 - Saturday, June 13th

It was a tale of two halves in the second match of the season between these two teams in Seattle in mid-June as part of FCD's five-game road trip.

A Dallas team missing Matt Hedges in defense dominated the first half with multiple chances but were unable to find a go-ahead goal and Seattle made them pay in the MLS debut of Alex Zendejas.

Lamar Neagle put the home side in front with a fantastic effort from outside the box and Obafemi Martins came off the bench to double the advantage before adding another one late.

FCD outshot the Sounders, held a slight advantage in possession and dominated many other statistical categories but the scoreline was lopsided in favor of Seattle.
