FRISCO, Texas (Friday, Aug. 28) – MLS All-Star Fabian Castillo is in line to receive his first cap with the Colombian National Team after being selected by head coach JoĹ›e Pékerman for an upcoming friendly against Peru, FC Dallas announced today.
The 23-year-old midfielder will join Colombia after FC Dallas’ match against Real Salt Lake tomorrow at Toyota Stadium.
Currently ranked fourth in the FIFA World rankings, Colombia is scheduled to face Peru at 7 p.m. CT at Red Bull Arena on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Castillo will join FC Dallas’ Blas Perez (Panama), Tesho Akindele (Canada), Moises Hernandez (Guatemala) and Je-Vaughn Watson (Jamaica) on international duty.
The midfielder leads FC Dallas in goals (8) and assists (6) this season. Castillo ranks seventh in franchise history in goals scored (28) since being acquired from Deportivo Cali on March 7, 2011.
