The nineteen-year-old joins North Texas SC after impressing during the club’s open tryout
Frisco, Texas (March 25, 2021) - North Texas Soccer Club has signed midfielder Bernard Kamungo, pending league and U.S. Soccer Federation approval.
Kamungo, 19, signs with North Texas SC on a two-year contract with an option for the 2023 season.
Born in Kasulu, Tanzania, Kamungo moved to Abilene, Texas as a 14-year-old and competed for Abilene High School’s varsity soccer team. He attended the North Texas SC’s 2021 open tryout in January and was one of four players invited to participate in the team’s preseason training camp.
“We’re very excited to sign a player from this year’s open tryouts because it’s a sign of the talent within the North Texas area,” North Texas SC general manager Matt Denny said. “Bernard is a very talented young man with all the attributes to become a top level player and we’ve already seen him develop since joining us for preseason.”
