Former FC Dallas Player Michel Garbini and Academy Coach Alex Aldaz Join Eric Quill’s Staff
FRISCO – North Texas Soccer Club announced today that former FC Dallas player Michel Garbini and current FC Dallas U-15 Academy head coach Alex Aldaz have joined the club as assistant coaches as the club builds towards its inaugural season in USL League One.
Garbini, 37, played three seasons for FC Dallas beginning in 2013. In total, he played 74 games for the club and accumulated 12 goals and 17 assists along with the way. Primarily a defensive midfielder for most of his career, Garbini got his start with hometown side Clube Atlético Mineiro in Brazil’s top-flight before moving to Standard Liège in Belgium.
“I’m really glad to be back working with the FC Dallas organization and with North Texas SC, and hopefully we can put in good work for the team,” Garbini said. “I always felt like Dallas was my second home, and that’s why I came back here to live with my family in the first place and to have the chance to work with this organization again. It can’t get better than that.”
Once his stint in Belgium ended, Garbini played for three Brazilian-based clubs before making his way back to Europe to sign with Greek side Aris FC, where he played for two years before signing for FC Dallas. After his three seasons in Dallas, he spent two years playing for NASL sides Rayo OKC and Miami FC before signing for the Dallas Sidekicks of Major Arena Soccer League in 2019. He also coached at Performance Indoor Training.
Aldaz, 42, joined FC Dallas in 2018 and is currently head coach of the FC Dallas Academy U-15 team. He will be an assistant coach for North Texas SC in addition to his Academy coaching role. Prior to joining Dallas, he was a coach with the Portland Timbers academy where he was named one of the Western Conference’s coaches of the year at the U.S. Soccer Development Academy awards banquet in 2018. He has served as an assistant coach for numerous colleges including Southern Methodist University, Florida Gulf Coast, Xavier and the University of Dayton.
“I look forward to being part of the North Texas SC coaching staff and working alongside coach Quill,” Aldaz said. “North Texas SC will be the final piece of the pathway connecting the Academy to the first team. We will do our best to prepare our players in this critical step of their development, and make sure we are aligned with the club’s philosophy in doing so.”
Aldaz holds a U.S. Soccer Federation “A” coaching license and earned a master’s degree from the University of Redlands. In addition to English, he is fluent in Spanish and Italian.
