FC Dallas Head Coach Schellas Hyndman on the game
It was tough for us to put any sort of rhythm together because
Toronto is a very physical team. In the first half they had six calls
against them; those were just the ones that were called, to our one.

On Ruben Luna’s debut
He’s strong… the defender [Adrian] Cann, the first time he went in
he thought he could muscle him. He found out he wasn’t going to be able
to muscle him. Ruben just kind of rolled off of him. He’s a great player
for FC Dallas’ future and a good reflection of our Academy.
Jair Benitez on Toronto FC
They were a very difficult team to play against. They knew I like to
get forward so they were playing a lot of long balls to their forwards
to keep me honest. Fortunately, Jeff was able to put one away and we
were able to get a win.
Ruben Luna on his disallowed goal
I think the ref called offside. I was pretty excited to make my
first goal in my debut, but he had the better look and I’ll go back and
see what happened. Basically, Brek took the shot and I saw the
goalkeeper drop it. I tried to toe-poke it though his legs and it
bounced off him and came back to me. I blasted it as hard as I could
into the net but then I think he called me offside.
Kevin Hartman on tonight’s win
We knew it was going to be one of those games where Toronto was
going to come out looking for points. At the same time we realized we
were at home and we had the opportunity to put ourselves in a wonderful
position in terms of playoffs. We knew it was going to be a hard-fought
battle and we were prepared for it. We had some guys this season that
haven’t necessarily gotten a ton of minutes step up. They showed exactly
what they bring to the table. They really proved that they are assets
coming off of the bench.
Marvin Chavez on the ball from Ferreira that led to the goal
David gave me a beautiful ball. I had the opportunity to shoot it
but I laid it off to Jeff. I saw that Jeff had a way better opportunity
than me, so I gave it to him.
Chavez on his first start since July 11 at Seattle
Atiba was out and I wanted to take the opportunity. I came in there and felt confident. I wanted to do well and get my chance.
Toronto FC head coach Preki
We made one mistake. We paid for it. I thought Dallas in a funny way
stole the points and that’s the way of soccer. If it bounces you have
to get a little lucky and we had no luck tonight. Though we had plenty
of opportunities and a few chances, the ball didn’t bounce for us, it
hasn’t been bouncing for us away from home and that’s something that’s
coming hard for us. But the good thing is that you see one incredibly
committed group who 10 guys push forward and are incredibly unlucky not
to get something. I have to take my hat off to my guys because the
commitment in the locker room is tremendous. I wish we had a couple
more things on the bench we could throw in the second half but we didn’t
and that’s the story for us right now.
